TODAY’S GENIUS AWARD GOES TO . . . . . . .
The fire department at Manchester Airport in England, which accidentally caused the cancellation of the inaugural Virgin Atlantic flight to Atlanta.
As the plane was rolling onto the runway, the fire trucks followed an aviation tradition and sprayed a water cannon salute.
However, someone on the truck hit the foam button and the arch of water turned to a white mess that clogged the plane’s engines.
This forced the cancellation of the flight and left 257 passengers temporarily stranded.
AND THEN THERE’S …..
Austin Smith, 27, a Florida man who put on a mask to disguise himself when he robbed his own mother.
Smith broke into her house with a mask on, pulled a knife on her, and demanded her cash.
She didn’t have any, so he tried to tie her up and ran away with nothing.
The cops tracked him down 90 minutes later.
Even though he was wearing a mask, the cops assume she knew it was him during the robbery.
OR HOW ABOUT …..
Michael Chico, a Texas man who was arrested for using flashing lights and a siren on his truck to cut in line at a drive-thru.
An off-duty officer saw a truck with law-enforcement markings cut in line and after it exited the restaurant, he followed the truck to an apartment building.
When Chico was confronted by police, he confessed he wasn’t an officer and that he’s also used the lights and sirens to get through traffic lights.
A real police officer then took him to a real jail and now Chico has a real criminal record.
OKAY, ONE MORE …..
Carolyn Sue Luna, 37, a Florida woman who offered to smoke crack with police after they found some on her.
Luna was pulled over for a warrant on a probation violation.
Before the deputy placed Luna in his backseat, he noticed a napkin jammed underneath the seat with a glass pipe inside.
Luna denied the pipe was hers, but admitted she put it there.
She then asked the deputy, “Do you want to smoke some of it?”
She was arrested on an additional charge of drug possession.
