The Kennett Police are investigating a homicide…

The Kennett Police Department is still investigating a homicide that happened over the weekend. Around 1 o’clock Saturday morning a call of shots fired around the area of Masons Café at Commercial and North Baldwin streets came in. When officers arrived, they found that two people had been shot.

William Thomas, Jr. was pronounced dead, one person escaped to a nearby home and another was taken to an area hospital. Taneka Parker of Kennett was also a victim. She’s was treated and released.

An autopsy has been scheduled for William Thomas, Jr. today. The Kennett Police Department, along with members of the Dunklin County Major Case Squad are currently investigating the shooting. The Missouri Highway Patrol is assisting with the investigation. Police Chief John Dennis is for any information from those believed to have witnessed what happened. No one is in custody.
