The Butler County Sheriff’s Department was involved in a high-speed chase Tuesday. Sammy Redmond of Qulin was eventually booked on two counts of first degree assault on law enforcement officers, felony property damage, felony resisting arrest, possession of a controlled substance and numerous misdemeanor charges. Sheriff Mark Dobbs says it began around 3 p.m. after minor traffic violations in the Fisk area and ended in the woods after a short foot pursuit. A deputy’s cruiser was rammed and Redmond allegedly nearly ran over the deputies and other law enforcement officers. He says this is the second time they’ve chased Redmond in a week.
