The next step in bringing a new indoor sports complex to Cape Girardeau will take place May 5 when the city hosts a public meeting on suggested sites and building projects or designs for the facility. It’s the next project funded through revenue from the 1 percent restaurant tax, which historically has helped build facilities to attract out-of-town visitors and tourists. Past projects include the Show Me Center, Osage Centre and the River Campus. The new facility will be designed to host sports tournaments and other events with a regional draw. At the public meeting, each of the project teams will make presentations, and members of the public may ask questions at the conclusion of all three presentations. The meeting begins at 6 p.m. at the Osage Centre, 1625 N. Kingshighway. Additional information is available by contacting the city’s parks and recreation department at 339-6340.
