TODAY’S GENIUS AWARD GOES TO . . . . . . .
An unidentified 35-year-old man in Spain, who apparently shot himself in the foot to see what it felt like.
The man arrived at a hospital for treatment and was deemed to be completely sober by nurses attending to him.
Authorities are still looking for the firearm which they believe he threw out of his car window on the way to the hospital.
Investigators have not ruled out sending the man for psychological testing or charging him for firearm offenses.
AND THEN THERE’S …..
Lena Sinishtaj, a disgruntled Detroit Red Wings hockey fan, who has been charged with arson after she lit a huge Tampa Bay Lightning flag on fire.
Sinishtaj, who traveled from Michigan to root on her beloved Red Rings, lit the huge flag on fire during a game, without any regard for the 200 or so people under the flag at the time.
She was charged with arson and, to add insult to injury, her Red Wings lost the game and were eliminated from the playoffs.
OR HOW ABOUT …..
48-year-old Doris Rowe, who was arrested for shoplifting after the manager of a Florida Winn-Dixie caught her shoving packages of meat and a gallon of bleach down her pants.
The store manager spotted her and followed her out to her car, where he tried to stop her.
She got into a getaway car, but didn’t get far.
Officers were able to retrieve five rib-eye steaks, six pounds of ground beef, four packs of bacon, two packs of pork ribs, water filters, and a gallon of bleach.
She was arrested for grand theft and robbery and 54-year-old Kenneth Edwards, who was driving the getaway car, was also charged.
OKAY, ONE MORE …..
A motorcyclist in China, who was pulled over by police for carrying an entire minivan on the back of his bike.
He was stopped after being spotted on a surveillance camera riding with the one-ton minivan laying across a platform on the back of the bike, with no straps to hold it down.
The man told police he was hauling it to the scrap yard.
Police gave the man a stern warning and called for a tow truck to carry it the rest of its journey.
