A sex offender who had who removed his GPS monitoring device last week was apprehended Monday. Cape Girardeau County Sheriff’s Department says 27-year old Derek K. Kinder of Jackson was arrested after a short foot chase near Delta. Kinder had been on the run since removing his monitoring bracelet Friday. He is required to wear the bracelet because of a conviction for child molestation and sexual misconduct involving a child. Kinder was convicted as a sex offender in 2007 in Scott County with repeated sexual abuse of a young girl over a three-year period. He also pleaded guilty in 2005 to sexual misconduct with a child younger than 14. Kinder was being transported to the Cape Girardeau County Justice Center. His total bond has been set at $35,000 cash or surety.
