The Southeast Coalition for Roadway Safety, which covers 25 Missouri counties, is accepting Law Enforcement Grant applications for the 2016 contract year. The grants may be used to help pay for overtime and equipment needed for operations such as checkpoints or saturation patrols, according to a news release from the Missouri Department of Transportation. Agencies that are awarded the grant may be asked to help with up to two Missouri Coalition for Roadway Safety-sponsored events during the year, the release said. The grants are awarded based on need and “the proposed impact of the request on reducing fatalities and injuries.” Also to be considered are a departmental seat-belt policy and agency involvement with the coalition. The application deadline is June 26, and funding reimbursements will be available beginning in August. Applications may be found at savemolives.com/regions-connect/southeast under “Resources” or by request.
