A crash in Madison County around 7 o’clock last night killed a woman and sent seven others to area hospitals. Missouri Highway Patrol reports indicate the crash happened on US 67 at Cherokee Pass. 55-year old Thursa Clubbs of Fredericktown was driving westbound when she crossed the center line into the path of another vehicle – collided with it and overturned. 34-year old Julleen Helm of Poplar Bluff was southbound in a separate vehicle. Helm suffered serious injuries and was air evaced to a hospital in St. Louis. There were two other passengers in the car with Helm. The Madison County Coroner reports that 70-year old Janice Helm of Poplar Bluff was killed. The other passenger, a 14-year-old boy, was taken by ambulance to a hospital for minor injuries. No one in the Helm’s car wearing seatbelts. Clubbs suffered moderate injuries and was taken by air to a hospital in Cape Girardeau. There were four other people riding with Clubbs. A 15-year-old girl and a 16-year-old boy were both moderately injured and were taken to a hospital in Cape Girardeau. Another 16-year-old boy and a 14-year-old girl suffered minor injuries. An ambulance took both of them to Madison Medical Center. Only Clubbs was wearing a seatbelt when her vehicle flipped. This is the 24th fatal accident in 2015 for Troop E.
