TODAY’S GENIUS AWARD GOES TO . . . . . . .
Courtney Barnes, a Jackson, Mississippi, man who was arrested for outstanding warrants after he spoke to a TV news crew on the air and led cops to his location.
Barnes had green hair, green fingernails, and a drawn-on unibrow when he was stopped by a news crew to discuss a car crash he had just witnessed.
His bizarre appearance and on-camera behavior led several people to post the video on YouTube.
Police ultimately saw the video and tracked down Barnes, who happened to have two outstanding warrants for shoplifting.
AND THEN THERE’S …..
Thomas Kenny, 25, a British man who tried to avoid paying child support by sending a look-alike to his paternity test.
Kenny got a woman pregnant a few years ago, but denied the baby was his.
When the court ordered a DNA test, Kenny found a co-worker who looked like him and paid him to take the test.
The fraud was uncovered because, unbeknownst to Kenny, the mother was in attendance at the test.
Kenny got six months in jail for conspiracy to defraud, which will be suspended as long as he pays child support.
OR HOW ABOUT …..
Two British men ages 26 and 25, who accidentally drove their stolen car into a police station parking lot.
The men were seen on camera driving a stolen Mercedes down the entrance ramp to the parking lot at Middleton Police Station.
There were security gates that the men couldn’t get through, but when they attempted to back up, two police vans had pulled up behind them.
One of the police officers said, “It was quite a surprise to us as it is not every day that suspected criminals bring stolen cars straight to the police station.”
The duo have been dubbed “Britain’s dumbest crooks.”
