A hostage situation at the Miner Super 8 Hotel has been resolved. Police report a call of a man acting suspiciously at the McDonald’s near the hotel were received at 530 in the afternoon yesterday (Monday). An officer trailed him to the hotel and when contact was attempted at the room he found a woman with a knife to her throat. The suspect threatened to kill her. The hotel was evacuated. Police Chief Chris Griggs says they attempted to communicate with the suspect via various phones. At 11:00 p.m. police broke into the room and took the suspect into custody. The man was taken away by ambulance for injuries he sustained during his arrest. The woman is being questioned by police, their relationship is unknown. Miner police, Sikeston DPS, a negotiating team with the SWAT team, Missouri State Highway Patrol and the Scott County Sheriff’s Department were all on scene.
