More than 42 asphalt streets will receive repairs next month as part of the city of Jackson’s annual Asphalt Pavement Improvement Plan. City officials awarded the $180,044 contract to Jokerst Inc. of Ste. Genevieve during a Board of Aldermen meeting Monday night. Public works director Rodney Bollinger says the program is one of three annual road improvement projects, including the city’s concrete improvement and joint routing and sealing projects. Although various streets all over Jackson will be repaired, the bulk of the work will be in the central and west-end parts of town. The repairs will involve road closures, but Bollinger said the schedule will have to be approved by city officials before projects begin and will be advertised on the city’s website. Work on the streets likely will begin in mid- to late August. The other two of the city’s annual projects will be following soon.
