The Vision Sikeston Leadership Group has teamed up with the SEMO Challenger Baseball League to raise money towards the construction of a handicap accessible field. Coordinator Morgan Hough tells KZIM KSIM they have engraved 4 x 8 bricks available to find a way to complete a diamond with a rubberized turf with matching dugouts and fields.
Right now Hough says the teams, with members from 5 years old and up, are playing on asphalt and that is dangerous on many levels. Those in wheelchairs and those with walking devices are at a disadvantage. To purchase a brick for 50$ call 471-2498 or contact a Vision Sikeston participant. The deadline is September 30th. Construction is to begin in January at the Sikeston Sports Complex.
