TODAY’S GENIUS AWARD GOES TO . . . . . . .
Candace McCray, a Florida jewelry thief, who was arrested after she wore stolen diamond earrings to a police interview.
McCray, who worked as a nurse’s aide, was suspected as the person who stole a patient’s jewelry after the patient saw McCray wearing her diamond earrings.
When officers later questioned McCray, they noticed she was still wearing the same diamond studs.
She was arrested for robbery.
AND THEN THERE’S …..
John A. Gampa, who robbed a Florida McDonald’s, then ended up arrested after he revisited the crime scene as a drive-thru patron.
Employees became suspicious when the man brought up the recent burglary while in conversation in the drive-thru.
They noted his license plate number and vehicle description, which led officers to Gampa.
When police arrested Gampa, he was just about to complete probation for another robbery case.
OR HOW ABOUT …..
Two guys with a gun, who tried to rob a Waffle House in Ohio, but only ended up stealing a menu.
Police said one of the robbers displayed a handgun, but fled the store without any cash.
Workers reported the only item taken was a restaurant menu.
Witnesses say the men fled in a getaway car driven by a woman before officers arrived.
Police are now tracking the description of the vehicle.
OKAY, ONE MORE …..
Debra Marceau, 52, a Florida woman who tried to shoplift frozen clams by placing them in her pants.
Security in the Publix Food store watched as she opened the box and proceeded to shove clam after clam down her pants.
She tried to walk out with her pants loaded up with clams and a frozen pizza in her purse, but she got caught.
She was arrested for retail theft and we’re hoping the clams were not put back on the shelf.
