Southeast Missouri State University sorority Zeta Phi Beta will be sprucing up along the river wall as part of its next act of community service, dubbed Project Riverfront Cleanup. Secretary Haley Ellison says sometimes there’s a lot of graffiti on the walls and provocative images kids shouldn’t be seeing. From 5 to 6:30 Friday night the sorority plans to remove as much of the graffiti as it can. Anything that doesn’t come off will be covered with a positive image. Parks division manager with Cape Parks and Recreation, Brock Davis says cleanup efforts are always welcome. When volunteers pitch in it free city crews to take care of other work. Time spent on tasks such as graffiti cleanup can add up quickly. This is the first time Zeta Phi Beta has turned its focus to the riverfront area. Members try to do a community service project every month and try to add some variety to each project.
