TODAY’S GENIUS AWARD GOES TO . . . . . . .
A 43-year-old burglar in Bonn, Germany, who called the police on himself after getting locked inside the house he was trying to rob.
The unidentified burglar entered the house through a set of patio doors and grabbed a notebook and a mobile phone, as well as some snacks for the journey home.
Not content with this haul, he then made for the storeroom.
Once he went in, the doors slammed shut behind him and he could not open them from the inside.
After desperate attempts to free himself, the man finally called the police for help, and they arrested him on the spot.
AND THEN THERE’S …..
Whitney Beall, 23, a Florida woman who drove home drunk and made everyone aware of it by broadcasting the trip live on the app called Periscope.
She opened up her broadcast by saying, “I’m driving home drunk. Let’s see if I get a DUI. It’s the U.S.A., people! Let’s see if I can get a DUI. I don’t think I will. I really don’t.”
Several people called 911 to report her, and a cop went on Periscope to track Whitney down.
She was arrested for drunk driving, precisely what she didn’t want to happen, because as she said during her broadcast,”I really don’t want to get a ticket. A DUI costs so much more than what I’m worth.”
OR HOW ABOUT …..
Dinzel Gabriel, 21, who was arrested for robbing a Florida home after police saw him wearing a pink Hello Kitty backpack.
Cops were canvassing the area after the robbery and thought it was unusual to see a man holding a pink Hello Kitty bag.
As police approached, Gabriel took off, but the cops caught up with him and arrested him.
He’s been charged with burglary and trespassing.
