The tuition rate for nonresident students at the Jackson School District was approved by the school board Tuesday, as well as the graduation date for the school year. Associate superintendent of finance and business operations Wade Bartels says the 2015-2016 tuition rate for nonresident students was set at $8,008 — an increase from last year’s rate of $7,533. The board then approved declaring an older model Chevrolet Suburban, previously used by the transportation department, as surplus property. Bartels says the graduation date was moved from its original date of Thursday, May 19, to Friday, May 20. Board members also approved about 20 updated board policies, as recommended by the Missouri School Boards’ Association. The policies can be viewed by visiting JacksonR2Schools.com and clicking the board’s meeting and agendas tab.
