A 17-year-old Hamilton County High School student and football player was killed Saturday in a crash that injured three other teens. Franklin County Sheriff Don Jones says four teenagers were traveling at high rate of speed along Bessie Road in a pick-up truck when the 17-year-old driver – who had allegedly been drinking alcohol ran a stop sign and barreled into a modular home at the intersection of Akin Blacktop Road in Benton, IL. 17-year old Isaiah Mikail Showden was pronounced dead at the scene. The Sheriff said the driver and two passengers fled the scene – The driver has since been arrested and is being held at the Franklin County Juvenile Detention Center for charges related to the deadly crash. The two passengers were later found and both suffered non-life threatening injuries. Snowden was a student and Football player at Hamilton County High School. The owner of the modular home John “Scott” Rose is cleaning up. The truck drove over a tree in the front yard and later slammed into a corner of the home which was knocked off its foundation, the roof caved in, and walls and doors blown out. The Franklin County Sheriff’s Department is investigating. They expect more arrests and charges to be filed.
