Two people were arrested Wednesday on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance in Scott County. Sheriff’s officers received a tip about drugs and drug paraphernalia on Route H in Benton. 37-year old Benjamin Karr of Oran, and 33-year old Aschlei N. Goetz, of Benton were found sitting in parked vehicle on the property. Goetz’s 5-month-old child was in the back seat. Karr gave officers permission to search his vehicle, and deputies found a scale and metal spoon with a white substance on it in a makeup bag. A second bag contained a syringe with liquid inside. Karr had a syringe with a white substance in it. According to a report from the Scott County sheriff, all items field-tested positive for methamphetamine. Karr and Goetz were charged with felony possession of a controlled substance and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. Karr and Goetz are tentatively scheduled for a preliminary hearing Tuesday. Both were in the Scott County Jail on Friday. Karr’s bond was set at $2,500, and Goetz’s was set at $1,000.
