A Cape Girardeau man was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of burglary in the 700 block of Dallas Street in Jackson. 29-year old Christopher Thomas Sample was charged with felony burglary, possession of burglars’ tools and misdemeanor property damage. Police responded to a call at 8:15 p.m. Tuesday about a burglary in progress. Jackson Police Sgt. Ryan Thieret wrote in a probable-cause statement that a man was seen entering the residence through a bathroom window. Officers saw Thomas walking around the house. Sample told officers he was retrieving items he had left and had entered the house through a laundry room window. Officers found a snap-on screw driver that was used to pry the window open. The officers also found a jacket Sample admitted was his that held several other tools. Nothing was identified as stolen in the report.
