44-year old Larry Gene Hottel of Whitewater was arrested the Thursday night and charged Sunday with second-degree domestic assault, felony unlawful use of a weapon and felony resisting arrest. Cape Girardeau County sheriff’s deputy Robert Jenkins says Hottel’s daughter, who reported domestic assault had marks around her neck and red marks above her eyes and lower lip. The victim went to Hottel’s residence for Thanksgiving where he became agitated. She says Hottel asked her to move her car and then assaulted her. Thursday night a deputy was sent to the 4800 block of State Highway U where a witness says Hottel began was driving into a field bordering their property. They say he fired several shots before going home. A responding deputy says Hottel yelled an obscenity in his direction, then ran into the woods. Hottel resisted arrest and was tased. He remains in custody.
