Scott County Sherriff Rick Walters says a Sikeston man is charged in connection with displaying a firearm at a school. 45-year-old Jeffrey Kyle Grubbs, of Sikeston is charged with unlawful use of a weapon and endangering the welfare of a child. Sheriff Rick Walters says Grubbs has a Concealed Carry permit and was volunteering at Kelly High School Monday evening. During the event, it’s alleged that Grubbs used the handle of a gun to push a tack into a piece of wood. Grubbs admitted attempting the task when the handgun was loaded but realized it was unsafe so he unloaded the handgun and continued. It was reported that there were two children ages 6 and 9 in the area during the incident. Walter says school official were made aware of the incident and immediately contacted his office. Grubb was arrested Tuesday Morning and released by the court in a criminal summons.
