TODAY’S GENIUS AWARD GOES TO . . . . . . .
George Sotos, 18, a college freshman in Iowa, who is facing felony charges for using a lighter to burn the shape of male genitalia into the ceiling tiles of his dorm.
Sotos “burnt” the penis design into hallway ceilings inside the University of Iowa’s Slater Hall where as many as 500 students reside.
Police said Sotos admitted to the action, but apparently wasn’t concerned that he might set fire to his entire dormitory.
AND THEN THERE’S …..
Michael Christopher Davis, an Alabama man who tried to hide inside a dryer during a drug raid, but was discovered when police heard him snoring.
Police were serving a warrant at a suburban home when they discovered a full blown drug operation.
After barging into the home and making several arrests, an officer who was tagging evidence heard a strange sound coming from the laundry room.
As he listened closer, he determined it was coming from the dryer.
There officers found Davis sound asleep and was snoring loudly.
Davis told officers “I was trying to hide and ya’ll just stayed too long … I fell asleep.”
He was also arrested.
OR HOW ABOUT …..
Clifford Knight, 46 and his wife Lataya, 38, who were arrested after getting into a fight with another man at a buffet in Connecticut over crab legs.
It’s not clear who was hogging the crab legs, but Knight punched the other man in the face and they started brawling until the victim’s mother used pepper spray to get them to stop.
Knight was arrested and charged with third-degree assault, his wife was charged with threatening and they were both charged with disorderly conduct.
No charges were filed against the victim or his mother.
OKAY, ONE MORE …..
Daniel Mervin William Hutchinson, 24, and Benjamin James Robinson, 29, who were jailed after they took selfies while committing crimes.
The pair broke into several gaming machines in Britain then decided to photograph themselves celebrating, posing and grinning after pocketing the cash.
That ultimately lead to the arrest of the pair.
Both were in court recently; Robinson was jailed for 32 months, while his accomplice Hutchinson received a six-month sentence, suspended for two years.
