Southeast Missouri State University Department of Mathematics will host students from 29 area high schools to compete in the 39th annual Math Field Day on Thursday the 14th. Events will take place in Academic Hall Auditorium. The event begins at 9 a.m. and concludes with an awards ceremony at 1 p.m. Team events begin at 9:25 a.m., while individual testing will be held from 10:10 to 11:30 a.m. At noon, students will engage in a problem-solving event, Mathletics, at the University Center. Event chair Cheryl McAllister tells KZIM KSIM the purpose of the event.
Approximately 615 students will compete in a multitude of areas including algebra, geometry, trigonometry, word problems, sets and logic, exponential and log functions, calculus and more. The public is invited to observe the event.
