The Bill Emerson Memorial Bridge was shut down this morning due to a crash. All lanes were closed on the Missouri and Illinois side. Traffic was reportedly delayed for up to 30 minutes. The Cape Girardeau Police Department says one person was transported to a local hospital for medical treatment. All lanes were open as of 9:19 this morning. The driver of the car, 34-year-old William Childers of Cairo, hit the back of a semi, which caused the accident. Childers is in custody and is charged with a Class B misdemeanor of driving while intoxicated. His bond is set at $2,500 cash only.
