Fire crews battled a house fire in rural Carbondale early this/Thursday morning. The Jackson County Sheriff’s office reports it started at a home in the 6000 block of Old Highway 13. When firefighters arrived on the scene, they could see flames showing from the back of the home. The homeowner was alone at the time and was not injured. She told authorities that she woke up with enough time to get out of the house thanks to her smoke detector. There’s no word on what caused the fire, but it does not appear to be suspicious.
