A Cape Girardeau man is accused of forcing his former girlfriend into a car at gunpoint, then telling the driver to take them to the Mississippi River because he was going to kill her. Police have charged 32-year old Ivory C. Alexander, with first-degree domestic assault, first-degree robbery, kidnapping, armed criminal action and unlawful possession of a firearm. His bond was set at $100,000 cash or surety. Alexander remained at large as of Wednesday afternoon. An arrest warrant was filed Tuesday. Alexander showed up at an apartment in Cape Meadows Circle, where the victim was staying during early Monday. A probable-cause by Cape Girardeau police says Alexander entered the apartment, holding a black handgun and pushed the victim to the floor repeatedly. Alexander took her phone. He then dragged her to a vehicle. He told her to get in the car or he was going to kill her. He also reportedly fired one shot into the air. Alexander hit the victim several times with his fists. The report says the driver refused to stop at the river and drove aimlessly. They returned to the apartment. Police went there about 1 a.m. and the victim was taken to a hospital for treatment. She suffered cuts and abrasions, as well as a nose fracture.
