Cape Girardeau’s 31st Annual Friends of the Parks Day and the Great Cape Clean-up is tomorrow. City of Cape Girardeau Parks and Recreation Department will host the community wide event. Anyone is invited to volunteer and make Cape beautiful. Individual and group volunteers are welcome to beautify a place of your choice. You could choose to work in your own back yard, a school, business, or a trail around town. If you are unsure of where to work, additional projects are available at city parks and properties. Projects will include planting tress and flowers, replacing mulch, trash pick-up and raking leaves. Tasks will be completed in Capaha Park, Kiwanis Park, Washington Park, Groves Park, Cape Rock Park, Cape LaCroix Creek, Riverfront Park and more. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. at Capaha Park for those coming out to city parks. Work projects will begin 9 a.m. Schnucks will provide hot dogs, chips and soda for participants. Groups or individuals wanting to volunteer should register by contacting the Parks and Recreation office at 573-339-6340.
