A Cape Girardeau man was ordered bound over for trial on drug charges. 44 year old, Kevin Burks, was arrested April 9th on charges of possession with intent to distribute and possession of a controlled substance. He waived his right to a preliminary hearing Thursday in an appearance before Judge Joshua Underwood. Burks was arrested following a traffic stop by New Madrid County Deputy R. White for an equipment violation. Burks granted the officer permission to search him. Sheriff Terry Stevens says the officer found a plastic bag with several red and blue pieces of pills identified as ecstasy. Stevens says Burk was asked if he had anything illegal inside the car. He told authorities that he had a pound of weed. He is still incarcerated with a bond set at $20,000 cash or surety.
