A Paducah man is behind bars after leading police on a short chase. The McCracken County Sheriffs Depart, 34 year old Brett Hearn of Paducah, was arrested on various drug and weapon charges on May 19th. Hearn allegedly took off in a vehicle after detectives tried to stop his as he crossed onto Wayne Sullivan from Irvin Cobb Drive. Deputies say he pulled into a parking lot and drove around it before stopping. A 9mm handgun was found under Hearn’s driver’s seat, along with bag of methamphetamine, doses of oxycodone and hydrocodone, digital scales and several bags marijuana. The McCracken County Sheriff’s Department Drug Division searched his residence finding LSD, a stolen handgun, a rifle with a defaced serial number, a shotgun and $1,500 believed to be from illegal drug sales. Hearn is not allowed to in possession of a firearm after being convicted of manufacturing of methamphetamine in 2011 as well as delivery of controlled substance in cocaine in 2004. He is charged with, Fleeing or Evading Police 2nd Degree Firearm Enhanced Trafficking Methamphetamine Over 2 Grams, Firearm Enhanced Possession of LSD, Firearm Enhanced Possession of Controlled Substance 1st Degree, Firearm Enhanced Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Handgun by Convicted Felon, Possession of Firearm by Convicted Felon, Possession of Defaced Firearm, and Receiving Stolen Property. More charges are expected as the investigation continues.
