TODAY’S GENIUS AWARD GOES TO . . . . . . .
Thomas Martin, 38, a Massachusetts fugitive who jumped off a balcony to get away from cops, but didn’t realize there were two cops right underneath, and he jumped into their arms.
Martin had been wanted on cocaine charges and had been on the run for three years.
U.S. Marshalls tracked him to an apartment complex in Fitchburg, Massachusetts but when they knocked on the door he burst out and ran for it.
He ran up to the second floor, climbed off a balcony, and tried to jump down.
There was only one problem, he didn’t realize there were two cops waiting down there.
AND THEN THERE’S …..
An asphalt company in New Hampshire, which removed a driveway from the wrong home.
The homeowners came home to find their concrete driveway was missing.
They called police and after a brief investigation, they learned the paving company had gone to the wrong address.
The company agreed to replace the missing driveway, so no charges were filed.
OR HOW ABOUT …..
An unidentified woman, who shot herself in the foot at a gun show outside of the Richmond International Raceway in Virginia.
Police say the woman was holstering the gun she’d just bought when it went off and shot her right foot.
She was hospitalized with a cut to her toe, but she’s said to be in good condition.
No one inside the venue was hurt and police said the shooting was an accident.
OKAY, ONE MORE …..
An unidentified man in Florida, who took off after hitting another car, only to get killed when he stopped to check the damage to his car.
Police say the man sideswiped another car, but kept driving for three miles before pulling over.
At that point, he used a makeshift jack to lift it up, so he could get underneath it.
But while he was under there, it fell off the jack, crushing him to death.
Police believe he was either trying to fix something, or looking for parts of the car he hit, so he could get rid of the evidence.
Wow, talk about bad karma.
