A Cape Girardeau woman told police her boyfriend pushed her into the back of a chair, slammed her face into the corner of a door, choked her while she was on the ground and kicked her repeatedly. 35-year old Steven Matthew Trout of Cape Girardeau has been charged with second-degree domestic assault. He was still at large as of Thursday. His bond was set at $5,000 cash or surety. The victim told Cape Girardeau County Sheriff’s deputies in an affidavit that Trout, her live-in boyfriend, became angry with her when she rebuffed his sexual advances. Trout returned at midnight seeming calm. His mood quickly changed and he left again, so the victim took her infant son, as many belongings as she could and fled to a neighbor’s house. She told deputies Trout had destroyed her phone. Juergens noted the victim had several abrasions, lacerations and bruising on her face and arms as a result of the assault. Juergens described Trout as a prior offender in the statement.
