Police in Poplar Bluff are looking for three men who reportedly confronted a man and ended up exchanged gunfire with a woman. On Saturday, officers responded to a home in the 400 block of Harper Street for a report of multiple gun shots being fired. When they arrived, they were flagged down by Moenika Ellis. She told police that she and her boyfriend and three children were in the home when she heard a knock on the door. Ellis said her boyfriend, Nicholas Robinson answered the door and was confronted by three people in masks with handguns. Ellis says her Robinson got into a fight with the suspects and was knocked to the ground. One of the suspects began to approach Ellis and demanded cash. That’s when Ellis went to her bedroom and got her own handgun and fired a shot toward the suspect. She came out of her bedroom and fired another shot at the suspect who ran to the kitchen. The other two suspects ran out of the home. The suspect then fired multiple rounds toward the bedroom where Ellis and her children, ages 9, 7, and 5, were hiding. Ellis told police the suspect fired one round toward Robinson while he laid on the floor. The suspect then ran. Robinson had a few injuries from the fight, but investigators says no one was hit by any of the gun shots. If you have information, you’re asked to call the Poplar Bluff Police Department.
