A Mississippi County couple have been arrested after they allegedly left three children in a hot car so they could make an appearance in court. Mississippi County Sheriff Keith Moore says a deputy was walking into the courthouse when he noticed a bailiff and custodian standing with a girl holding an 11-month-old baby. Moore says the child’s face was red. It was learned that Allana Wheatley and Bradley Wheatley, left the kids in the car with no air conditioning running so they could attend their court appearance. Allana Wheatley says the car did have air conditioning, but that it must have stopped working. Moore says he believes one of the kids may have accidentally turned the air conditioning off while they were waiting. He says the parents were in court for more than an hour. They were both arrested and charged with 3 counts of abuse or neglect of a child, and 3 counts of endangering the welfare of a child. Bond was set at $25,000 cash or surety each.
