The Sikeston Department of Public Safety reports a Matthews man is now in custody after an early morning stabbing. Sergeant Jon Broom says New Madrid police arrested 37-year-old Christopher Harrigan on Friday. 31-year-old Steven Vanvickle, of Sikeston showed up at Missouri Delta Medical Center, Friday morning with multiple stab wounds. Vanvickle identified Christopher Harrigan as the person who stabbed him. Authorities’ say Vanvickle met Harrigan at a local truck stop and asked for a ride to Wilson St. Vanvickle believed Harrigan laced his drink with methamphetamine while pumping gas. Once the men made it to Wilson St. Harrigan became aggressive and wanted to fight. Harrigan began punching and hitting him and that’s when Vanvickle believes he was stabbed. Harrigan is charged with 1st degree assault and armed criminal his bond is set at $25,000 cash only.
