Sheriff Rick Walter announced just after noon Sunday that the Scott County Jail escapee missing since Thursday is back in custody. 31-year old Joshua Musgrove, who escaped about 3:30 p.m. Thursday, was found after a tip from the public. Walter says Musgrove was taken into custody without incident and is being held at the Scott County Jail. Musgrove was being held on felony charges of first-degree assault and unlawful use of a weapon. During his incarceration, Musgrove had been assigned to a work detail inside the jail. After a court appearance Thursday afternoon, Musgrove was returned to the work detail at which time he fled from the jail through a service gate that inadvertently had been left unsecured. The sheriff commended the help of the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Sikeston Department of Public Safety, Scott City Police Department, Morley Police Department and the Cape Girardeau County Sheriff’s Office during the search. He also thanked you, the public, for the all the tips that ultimately led to locating Musgrave.
