A homicide investigation is underway in Charleston. Charleston Department of Public Safety Director Robert Hearnes says that officers heard about an unresponsive man on July 13 at around 1:50 p.m. at the picnic shelter at Whipple Park. Upon arrival they found a man identified as 78-year-old Joe Anderson, of Charleston had been shot and was pronounced dead at the scene. The Missouri State Highway Patrol is investigating the case and the Mississippi County Coroner Terry Parker says that an autopsy is scheduled for Friday.
