On Wednesday, (Aug, 30) at 3:08 pm, Officers with Sikeston DPS responded to the 200 block of Thrush in reference to gunshots fired from a vehicle. Upon arrival Officers met with witnesses and learned there had been a disturbance prior to the shots fired. They got a description of the vehicle and the suspect that fired the weapon. That information was passed on to other law enforcement officers in the area and the vehicle was found and stopped on US 60 just west of Sikeston. A loaded pistol was found inside the vehicle. The offender, 38 year old John Tinsley of Van Buren was charged with discharging a firearm from a vehicle at a person or habitable structure and unlawful possession of a firearm, his bond was $75,000 cash or surety. During an interview Tinsley said he had been involved in a physical altercation and that when he got into his vehicle the other party involved in the disturbance came towards his vehicle, this is when he fired his gun in the air.
