A Cape Girardeau man has been charged in a March 31 beating and theft on North Middle Street. Online court documents show 34-year old Jesse Boyer has been charged with one count each of first-degree robbery and armed criminal action. A witness told police a man later identified as Boyer struck the victim in the head with a gun and ran toward a house on North Frederick Street. According to a probable-cause statement a bag containing prescription medication was torn during the altercation and Boyer allegedly picked up the pills before fleeing. The victim’s injury was not life-threatening. Boyer is scheduled for arraignment Tuesday. His bond has been set at $100,000.
