TODAY’S GENIUS AWARD GOES TO . . . . . . .
William Calvin Stewart, 46, a Florida man who smashed two security cameras while breaking into a business, but missed the third one that caught him in the act.
Police identified the man caught on surveillance tape as Stewart, who denied having any part in the burglary until he was shown stills from the video footage.
Stewart was booked on charges of burglary and larceny.
AND THEN THERE’S …..
Taykim Ross, 18, a Long Island man whose exposed bright red underwear lead to his arrest for robbing a home.
Police say Ross stole electronics and a pair of Air Jordan sneakers from an apartment and then stopped in the backyard to try on the new shoes.
That’s when a neighbor snapped a photo of him with his bright red boxers visible above his jeans.
A police officer canvassing the neighborhood noticed someone with bright red underwear taking his garbage out.
Turns out, it was an exact match of the photo.
Ross was arrested and is awaiting a court date.
OR HOW ABOUT …..
Chad Eric Sunderland, 37, a Florida man who stole some wooden chairs from a store and then placed them on his porch in plain sight for all to see, including the person he swiped them from.
The store owner was driving home and spotted the white wooden chairs that had been swiped from her business.
She notified police, who then questioned Sunderland.
He told police he found both the chairs and bookshelf in the neighborhood and thought they were trash.
Police searched Sunderland’s place and found a stolen yellow bookshelf taken from another business in town.
Sunderland matched the video footage of a man trying to break into a business.
He was charged with grand theft and attempted burglary.
OKAY, ONE MORE …..
Rym Ben Slimane, a woman in Dubai, who came home and found a stranger sleeping in her bed, but before she called police, she took a selfie with him.
Luckily for Slimane, police got there and figured out that he wasn’t planning to rob the place, he was just drunk and tired.
The man was charged with trespassing.
Additionally, since the United Arab Emirates operates under Muslim laws, drinking alcohol and sharing a bed with a woman who’s not your wife are both illegal.
