TODAY’S GENIUS AWARD GOES TO . . . . . . .
19-year-old Logan Shaulis, a Pennsylvania man who was arrested after he set up his own drunk-driving checkpoint and pretended to be a cop.
State troopers say the wannabe cop parked his vehicle diagonally across state Route 601 and set up road flares at 4:00 a.m.
Motorists were asked to show their driver’s license, registration, and insurance papers.
However, when real troopers arrived, Shaulis apparently tried to hand his BB pistol to one car’s passenger and said, “I can’t get caught with this.”
He faces charges of impersonating a public servant and unlawful restraint.
Oh, by the way, he was apparently drunk at the time, too, so he was cited for drunk driving as well.
AND THEN THERE’S …..
An 18-year-old student driver in Germany, who had the front of her car flattened by a tank when she failed to look before pulling out into an intersection.
Witnesses say the student driver didn’t spot a convoy of tanks when she turned onto the Panzeringstrasse, which literally translates to “tank ring road.”
Luckily the young female driver was unhurt, however the car was a total loss.
OR HOW ABOUT …..
Demetrius Washington, 40, a Florida man who was identified as a thief after he left a receipt with his name on it at the crime scene.
Police investigating a home break-in found a receipt from a scrap yard for the sale of copper and metal parts, complete with Washington’s name and address.
Police had no problem finding Washington, since he was already in their jail after being arrested on another charge.
OKAY, ONE MORE …..
Danielle Houle, 39, a Florida woman who beat up her boyfriend after he refused to cuddle with her.
Houle tried to spoon with her boyfriend in the middle of the night, but he turned her down.
So she flipped out and started biting, scratching, and hitting him.
She was arrested for misdemeanor domestic battery.
She’s also facing a probation violation, since she recently did five years in prison for a drunk driving accident.
