Illinois woman dies in traffic accident

A traffic accident on U.S. 51 in Union County, Illinois, killed an Anna woman Tuesday afternoon. 21-year old Lauren Holhouser died after her SUV collided with a Toyota Camry driven by 60-year old Kevin Purcell of Cobden. Illinois State Police reports indicate Purcell was entering U.S. 51 from Bell Hill Road and failed to yield to Holhouser as she was northbound. The Toyota collided with the rear of the truck, causing it to lose control and overturn. Holhouser was partially thrown from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. She was not wearing a seatbelt. Purcell was ticketed for failure to yield.
