TODAY’S GENIUS AWARD GOES TO . . . . . . .
A man in Britain, who called 999 (their version of 911) dispatchers wanting police to come and arrest a cat that had eaten his bacon.
When asked by the dispatcher “What’s your emergency?” the caller said “Er.. me girlfriend has let the cat eat my bacon.”
The dispatcher asked what he would like the police to do.
He simply replied: “I want to press charges.”
The dispatcher told the caller “Sir, it’s not an offense to let your cat eat your bacon. And we don’t arrest cats.”
Despite his protest that this was in fact an emergency, he finally conceded and ended the call.
AND THEN THERE’S …..
New York Jets defensive tackle Sheldon Richardson, who was already serving a two-week suspension when he was arrested for doing 143 m.p.h. with guns, drugs, and a 12-year-old in the car.
Richardson, who was suspended because of a failed marijuana test, led Missouri police on a high speed chase that ran several red lights and even went the wrong way on an interstate highway.
When they finally stopped him, they found a loaded shotgun, bags of marijuana, and his 12-year-old nephew in the car.
Police say everyone in the car, including his nephew, smelled of marijuana.
To make matters worse, Richardson didn’t tell the New York Jets about the arrest until two weeks later when the police report was released to the public.
OR HOW ABOUT …..
An unknown man, who tried to rob a Little Caesars in Maryland wearing a t-shirt that said “Crime Pays.”
Unfortunately for him crime didn’t pay because the employees couldn’t get the register open.
After several attempts to do it himself, he took off empty handed.
The cops are trying to track him down.
OKAY, ONE MORE …..
A burglar in Britain, who was outsmarted by his victim after they brought the burglar’s ladders in through his window before he got a chance to break in.
The homeowner told police that he was awoken by the burglar putting a ladder outside his open window.
Thinking fast, the homeowner grabbed the ladder and pulled it into his house.
The man fled on foot and police are still looking for him.
