TODAY’S GENIUS AWARD GOES TO . . . . . . .
Dominique Albert, 27, of St. Petersburg, Florida, who tried to steal an unmarked cop car with two cops inside.
Albert spotted two guys parked on the side of the road. So he yanked open the passenger door, pulled out a steak knife, and told them to get out.
Only he didn’t realize the car was an unmarked police car and the two guys inside were actually cops.
They pulled out their guns and identified themselves as cops, so Dominique took off running.
They chased after him, and eventually took him down after a brawl.
AND THEN THERE’S …..
Gilberto Garcia, 36, an Omaha, Nebraska man who burned down his house because his wife refused to have sex with him.
Police say Garcia tried to wake his wife up to have sex a few weeks ago, but she turned him down.
She woke up a few minutes later when she smelled smoke, and found Gilberto in their closet setting her clothes on fire.
She got their three children out safely, and called 911.
Now he’s looking at 50 years in prison for arson.
OR HOW ABOUT …..
Kenzo Roberts, 20, a Florida man who tried to chew off his fingerprints after getting arrested for stealing a car.
Roberts was arrested for driving a stolen Mercedes and he figured if he had no fingerprints, they couldn’t prove it was him.
Despite getting almost all of his finger skin off, the cops were able to run his prints.
As an added bonus, he had two outstanding felony warrants.
Now he’s facing a ton of charges, ranging from grand theft auto to giving false identification to law enforcement.
