Youngsters interested in hunting or conservation have a free event just for them next weekend…
Though it is not a hunting class, youngsters from 17 and under can participate in the National Wild Turkey Federation’s ‘Youth Turkey Field Day’. District Director Tim Schwendt says from 8 to 3am, on Saturday the 22nd, at Deerfield Lodge, they have the annual JAKES event or Juniors acquiring knowledge, ethics, and sportsmanship. He tells KZIM KSIM even if your son or daughter has never hunted, this is a good way of showing them situations that are possible when out in nature…
Some vendors will have decoys, others teach legality of hunting, ethics, and safety as others are displaying pelts and furs of animals legal to hunt. Your kids will also get a free one year membership to the federation and go home with a few prizes. And if parents are ok with it, some will shoot bows and arrows or maybe even a rifle. No registration is required.
