TODAY’S GENIUS AWARD GOES TO . . . . . . .
Dejerrian Dequan Murray, 24, a Florida man who stole a Confederate Flag off of someone’s porch then got arrested when he posted a video of it on Facebook.
The video shows Murray jumping up to rip down the flag, which he then carries to a getaway car being driven by accomplice, Jamari Williams, 23.
Detectives went to a possible address for Murray, and a female relative of the suspect spontaneously announced, “I already know why you guys are here. It’s because my cousin took that flag.”
Both Murray and Williams were charged and released.
AND THEN THERE’S …..
Mary Smith, 42, who broke into a neighbor’s house in Kentucky, called 911 to report a possible fire, and ended up arrested.
Police believe that Smith broke into a neighbor’s house to steal prescription drugs, but saw their stove was on.
However, instead of just turning it off herself, she called 911 to report a possible fire.
The firefighters got suspicious, brought in the cops, and she was arrested.
OR HOW ABOUT …..
Philadelphia police officer Matthew Zagursky, 32, who threatened to impound a motorist’s car if he didn’t buy tickets to a police union fundraiser.
Zagursky, a 9-year veteran, was taken off street patrol and had his officer’s gun taken from him after Facebook videos surfaced.
The video apparently shows Zagursky telling a driver that if he buys tickets to the fundraiser, Zagursky will not tow his vehicle.
The officer also uses a homophobic slur while apparently joking with the man at another point.
OKAY, ONE MORE …..
Casey James Shaffer, 24, who was arrested after a Pennsylvania home owner found him using her shower and doing a load of laundry.
Pennsylvania State Police say a woman found an intruder taking a shower and doing his laundry at her home when she woke up from a nap.
Shaffer was arrested on charges of criminal trespass, disorderly conduct, public intoxication, and loitering and prowling at night.
