Now is the time to consider serving your community by running for a seat on the city council…
If you are looking for a way to serve the Cape Girardeau community perhaps think about running for a seat on the City Council. If you are 21 years old, have no Missouri felonies, have lived in the Ward for 90 days, are current on your taxes and are a registered voter, all you need is 50 signatures on a petition issued by the city and the race is on! Wards 3, 4, and 5 will be up for election which includes 2 open races where the incumbent is leaving due to term limits. Ward 5 Councilman Mark Lanzotti tells KZIM KSIM serving on the 6 member board for the last 8 years with the Mayor Harry Rediger has been very rewarding…
You must obtain your petition at the City Manager’s Office on Independence, beginning Oct. 1st. Candidates may file between Oct. 20 and Nov. 17th. Both the nominating petition and the acceptance of nomination form must be returned to the City Clerk at the City Manager’s Office. The election will take place April 5th, 2016.
