Girl has medical emergency at Cape Splash

Cape Girardeau rescue personnel were dispatched to Cape Splash on Monday afternoon after a girl had a medical emergency. Terrell Butler, a visitor at Cape Splash, says he was the first to respond when he saw the girl was unresponsive. He proceeded to perform CPR until Cape Splash lifeguards came to help. Rescuers arrived at the park about 4 p.m. The girl was responsive by the time emergency medical workers arrived, and she was taken to an area hospital. Her condition remains unknown. Aquatic supervisor for the Central Municipal Pool and Cape Splash, Patrick Watson says the lifeguards followed emergency protocol to the T. Butler and Watson would not elaborate on what happened to the girl. Monday was the final day of the season for the Cape Splash facility.
