Stolen gun recovered in Charleston
A stolen gun has been recovered in Charleston. Police Chief Robert Hearnes says they received a call about a man with a gun near the basketball courts at Lincoln Park. He has been identified as 25-year-old Jermare Farmer of Charleston. He was arrested after a short foot pursuit. Officers found a loaded firearm hidden in a trashcan that was reported stolen to the Cape Girardeau County Sheriff’s Department in July. Farmer faces charges of unlawful use of a weapon, receiving stolen property and resisting arrest. He’s being held in the Mississippi County Jail on $50,000 cash or surety bond.
