The Wiffle Ball World Series is this weekend in a backyard in Cape…
Nine teams will compete in the 19th annual Wiffle Ball World Series this Saturday and Sunday with proceeds going to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital! Founder Jeff Augustine says participants are mostly local and meet in a unique place – 21-30 Sherwood Drive in Cape. His parents’ backyard! They have turned it into a full-fledged baseball field perfect for wiffle ball games! Augustine even persuaded them to paint the back of the house green to serve as the homerun fence. They use regular baseball rules with a few little quirks. The public is invited to watch. Augustine tells KZIM KSIM this year there is an extra event for the little ones…
“Andy’s” has donated concretes for the kids who play. There will also be a few drinks and some prizes for adults. Bring a picnic basket and cooler and maybe lawn chairs. Admission is free but donations are happily accepted. Play begins at 9am. Last year Augustine raised 750$ for St. Jude. He hopes to top a thousand this year.
