The Public Art Committee of the City of Cape Girardeau will hold the third outdoor sculpture exhibition on Friday, the 15. The show consists of 7 substantial pieces to be placed along the Broadway corridor for one year. By hosting the exhibit, the committee hopes to increase the number of arts-related activities within the region and provide an additional revitalization strategy for Old Town Cape. Six artists were selected for the exhibition, with local artists Ben Pierce and Nathan Pierce of Cape Girardeau included. Pieces will be unveiled at a special reception, open to the public, on Friday at 6 p.m. at the Vasterling Suites Courtyard. From the Arts Council of Southeast Missouri, Murielle Gaither tells KZIM KSIM what the committee wanted to accomplish with the exhibit.
Brochures will be available at the Arts Council later this month so you can give yourself a self-guided tour of the pieces.
